If you're looking for a cheap, no-frills machine, we recommend the Singer Heavy Duty 4423 with 23 stitches. Both our main and upgrade picks are better machines, but for the money, the Heavy Duty 4423 pleasantly surprised us. The Singer sews evenly, and the dials are easy to read.
